An Introduction
Firstly, I'm not a poltergeist nut. I don't run around abandoned asylums with a backpack vacuum or anything.
Rather, this blog is a personal quest of mine to; explore the history of extinction - from pre-historic "great dyings" to human-caused extinction, examine the social, economic, moral and cultural ramifications of extinction, discuss impacts of extinction on ecosystems - human and natural - and to (hopefully) realise what extinction really means.
Essentially, I'm embarking on a study into the meaning of death. Enjoy!

What I'm Doing
|
I'm balancing equal parts scientific observation and philosophical reasoning. This will be achieved through research and reading of a variety of works (citations included), observations from firsthand expeditions into ecosystems previously inhabited by extinct species, and my own horrible, biased rationalisation.
What I won't do: Write bleeding heart articles about adorable animals. |
About The Author
|
I've been equally fascinated and perplexed by the notion of extinction ever since picking up my first dinosaur book. Consequently, science is my passion; especially evolutionary biology and zoology - with a particular interest in birds. I enjoy reading history and am an avid cyclist, swimmer and occasional mountaineer. I'm currently studying the Bachelor of Advanced Science (Hons) - Global Challenges degree, in first year.
